Catherine Alix-Panabières: Celebrating 65 years of Friendship and Cooperation Between Montpellier and Heidelberg

Catherine Alix-Panabières, Director of the Laboratory of Rare Human Circulating Cells and Professor of Universities – Hospital Practitioner at Montpellier University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Celebrating 65 years of friendship and cooperation between Montpellier and Heidelberg

It was a great honor to take part in the visit of the Heidelberg delegation, led by Mayor Eckart Würzner, to celebrate the longstanding twinning between these two outstanding European cities.

Over the years, Montpellier and Heidelberg have built strong and growing collaborations in the medical and scientific fields — particularly in oncology. These connections are driven by remarkable leaders such as Catherine Alix-Panabières, Michael Baumann, Director of DKFZ, one of the world’s leading cancer research centers, and Prof. Sonja Loges, Director of the Hector Institute in Heidelberg.

Catherine Alix-Panabières contributed to the scientific committee during the launch of the DKFZ-Hector Institute several years ago and now serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of DKFZ, bringing internationally recognized expertise in liquid biopsy research.

She will also be back in Heidelberg next week to further strengthen these valuable scientific exchanges.

Her ties with Germany are particularly strong: she is also Visiting Professor at the The University of Hamburg and has been collaborating for more than 20 years with Klaus Pantel, one of the pioneers in the field of liquid biopsy and translational cancer research.

The reception evening at the Maison des Relations Internationales, attended by more than one hundred guests in the presence of Mayor Michaël Delafosse, was the highlight of a truly inspiring day.

I was delighted to be part of these enriching discussions and to witness the strength of the ties uniting these two beautiful cities.

Long live Franco-German friendship, scientific excellence, and international cooperation between Montpellier and Heidelberg!”
