Carolyn Taylor: Why Do We Continue to Organize Our Work in Disease-Specific Silos?

Carolyn Taylor, Founder and Executive Director at Global Focus on Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:

“A sincere thank you to Global Heart Hub for inviting me to speak, and congratulations on such a wonderful and thought-provoking meeting!

Coming from the cancer community, I was struck by how much we share across diseases, particularly around trust, empathy, meaningful engagement, and people-centered care.

People do not experience their lives in disease-specific silos, so why do we continue to organize so much of our work that way?

There is enormous value in learning from one another and working collectively across disease communities. Ultimately, we are people first, and our health systems should recognize and respond to us as whole individuals.

Thank you for the rich conversations and connections!”
