Caroline Tonio, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Kenyatta University, Clinical Research Fellow at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today at ESMO GI 2026, I’m presenting Poster 497P:

Access to Oesophageal Cancer Care in Kenya and Uganda: A Healthcare Provider Survey

Our study shines a light on critical gaps across the oesophageal cancer care pathway, from delayed presentation and limited staging and biomarker testing to challenges accessing multidisciplinary treatment and supportive care. The findings highlight the need for stronger health systems, better referral pathways and greater regional collaboration.
