Carmen Monge-Montero: Interview Number 69 on MANO Beyond Cancer with Rabi Waqas

Carmen Monge-Montero, Researcher and Global Cancer Advocate, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Interview number 69 on MANO Beyond Cancer: Rabi Waqas (Pakistan and Saudi Arabia)

As September comes to an end, I want to honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by sharing the story of Rabi Waqas, who was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager in Pakistan and is now living in Saudi Arabia.

Rabi talks about:
  • Why biryani will always remind him of home.
  • The strength of faith, family, and community prayers.
  • The stigma around cancer in Pakistan compared to Saudi Arabia.
  • How slowing down and cherishing small moments became his ‘superpower’.
  • His vision is for more awareness, support groups, and affordable treatment for young people with cancer.
Rabi’s journey is a reminder that even after cancer, life can be full of joy, meaning, and hope.

This is interview 69 of my dream to reach 100 voices of people with and beyond cancer by May next year. Every story helps us break stigma and build community around the world.
