From the bedside to global health policy, Bente Mikkelsen has spent her career turning vision into action-Driving Equity, Innovation, and Measurable Impact.

From championing research and innovation in Norway to influencing how the World Health Organization works with non-state actors, her career has been defined by efforts to build stronger global health partnerships. By elevating childhood cancer on the international agenda and serving as the Director of the Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD) Department in the Division of UHC/Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases at WHO Headquarters in Geneva, she has shown how persistence and collaboration can translate into real progress for health systems worldwide.

Her philosophy is clear: ‘Every Dollar Has to Work for Equity, Both in Access and Outcomes.’

At St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, she now leads global efforts to improve childhood cancer care, proving that clear goals and collective action can change systems and save lives.
