“There is a person behind every single bowel screening test result.
Sometimes all it takes is one conversation to help them take the next step.
The Institute recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Participant Follow Up Function (PFUF), recognising the dedicated team who have spent the past decade supporting people across NSW after they receive a positive bowel screening result.
Over the past 10 years, this service has grown alongside the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, making a significant contribution to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes for thousands of people.
Together, the team has:
- Followed up more than 163,000 participants
- Made more than 350,000 calls to participants and health professionals
- Grown from 5 staff to 13
- Increased the number of people supported each year from 8,300 to around 23,000
- Been shaped by 41 dedicated team members across the life of the program
While these milestones are worth celebrating, the greatest achievement is the difference the PFUF team makes to the lives of thousands of people supported along their bowel screening journey.
