Bishal Gyawali, Associate Professor at Queen’s University, shared a post on X:
“I’m a Nepali from Napoli.
It was a pleasure sharing my experience of teaching at the ASCO, AIOM Clinical Research Course back in March. Such a fantastic course!
Also Grazie Mille to all my Italian friends for such a warm hospitality.
For unknown reasons, I have a special bond with Italy. If I were a European, I’d probably be an Italian. Despite the language barrier, it’s the laid-back attitude, warm and friendly hospitality, last-minute decision-making, appreciating good food, easily becoming friends, and not hiding emotions that all make me feel very much at home, as if I was in Nepal. So much so that my Italian colleagues tell me that I belong to Italy. When I say I am from Nepal, they joke I am from Naples. I say I’m a Nepali and they joke, ‘Yes, we know you’re from Napoli.’ “
