Bartomeu Fullana Grimalt: Perspective of Younger Oncologists: The Need for More Stable and Transparent Contracts

Bartomeu Fullana Grimalt, Breast Oncology Medical Oncologist at Catalan Institute of Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Last week I had the chance to take part in the first conference of the Cátedra Impacto Vital Frente al Cáncer, a joint initiative between Catalan Institute of Oncology and the Universitat de Barcelona.

I was invited to share the perspective of younger oncologists: the need for more stable and transparent contracts, to stay constantly updated in a rapidly evolving field, and the growing impact of burnout on our generation. Alongside me, my mentor Sonia Pernas brought the view of more experienced colleagues, highlighting how the specialty has evolved and how we can build sustainable careers over the long term.

These kinds of intergenerational conversations are essential if we want to take care not only of our patients, but also of the professionals who look after them.

Many thanks to Cristian Ochoa Arnedo and Paco Gil for the invitation, and to Asociación Española contra el Cáncer for supporting this chair and making this kind of discussion possible.”
