Avirup Guha: A Normal Ejection Fraction Doesn’t Automatically Mean Low Cardiac Risk

Avirup Guha, Director of Cardio-Oncology at Medical College of Georgia, shared on X:

“A normal EF does not automatically mean low cardiac risk.

Following my ADT video, here’s the anthracycline companion: ESC 2022 risk assessment, plus newer CARDIOTOX, RE-ACT and lymphoma-specific STOP-CA evidence.

Watch the video.

One key distinction: STOP-CA enrolled patients with lymphoma. Atorvastatin reduced LVEF-defined dysfunction, but clinical heart-failure reduction was not established. Statin decisions need the treatment, baseline risk and trial population in view.

Before ADT: check cardiovascular history, BP, lipids, glucose/HbA1c and ECG.

Then make a follow-up plan.

Watch the ADT video.

Living guideline.”
