“From 24–28 July 2026, I had the opportunity to take part in the ESMO Course in Medical Oncology for Medical Students in Valencia, Spain, together with 90 medical students.
Through lectures from leading experts, interactive discussions and clinical cases, we explored different areas of oncology and the reasoning behind treatment decisions. One thing became especially clear throughout the course: oncology is a truly “living” specialty – constantly evolving as new evidence, therapies and technologies reshape the way we understand and treat cancer.
It was also a great reminder of how multidisciplinary and collaborative cancer care really is. Surgery, systemic therapy, radiotherapy, diagnostics and research may approach cancer from different perspectives, but they all work towards the same purpose – providing better care and achieving better outcomes for patients.
Beyond the academic programme, the course was also about the people. Meeting other medical students, sharing ideas and experiences and discovering Valencia together made the experience even more memorable!
