“Every missed opportunity to prevent or detect a non-communicable disease (NCD) earlier has consequences for patients and for health systems.
A new wave of policy roadmaps from the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience (PHSSR), provides evidence-based recommendations to enable policymakers in Germany, Greece and Spain to strengthen health systems through earlier action on NCDs.
The research follows earlier work in Canada, France, Italy and Japan. This growing body of evidence is helping governments around the world make more informed decisions and investments in health for long-term benefits.
The roadmaps identify practical actions to prevent, detect and treat NCDs earlier, and improve patient outcomes while strengthening the sustainability and resilience of health systems.
This matters most when budgets are under pressure.
Acting earlier – including timely access to medicines, diagnostics and digital tools – is a key lever to improve patients’ lives and protect health system sustainability.
