Excited to share our latest work on an innovative approach to breast reconstruction – ‘No-Doppler Medial Intercostal Artery Perforator (MICAP) Flap for Inner Quadrant Breast Defects.’
Tumors located in the inner quadrants or nipple-areolar complex present unique reconstructive challenges due to limited local tissue for reshaping. Traditional oncoplastic techniques often fall short in achieving optimal aesthetic results in these regions.
Our study presents a simplified MICAP flap technique that utilizes a sound understanding of surgical anatomy – without the need for Doppler or CT angiography – to reconstruct inner and central quadrant defects following breast-conserving surgery (BCS).
