“Proud to share our recent Policy and Practice Review, ‘Occupation and Oncology: Cancer Care in Palestine,’ now published in Frontiers in Oncology and featured by OncoDaily.
Rather than treating conflict as a single, uniform force, the review examines how prolonged occupation, restricted mobility, fiscal constraints, and limited health sovereignty interact to break down cancer care systems, using Palestine as a case study alongside historical and regional comparators including Japan, West Germany, East Timor, and Israel.
It documents stark realities, from the total absence of radiotherapy in Gaza and its severe limitations in the West Bank, to the deep reliance on permit-mediated referrals to East Jerusalem, to the collapse of oncology access amid acute medicine shortages.
Most importantly, it moves beyond documenting failure to propose practical, life-saving solutions: protected oncology referral corridors, companion-supported medical evacuations, audited financing, and rights-based monitoring.
