Ardem Patapoutian Celebrates 25 Years of Running a Lab and the Success of His Trainees
Ardem Patapoutian, Professor at The Scripps Research Institute, Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2021, shared on LinkedIn:
“This year marks my 25th running a lab. Over that time, 7 students have earned a PhD and 31 postdocs have trained with me. Remarkably, 37 of 38 trainees are still in science, and 36 continue to do research. Nicholas Villarino, the 8th student, will defend in December, with my very first student, Lindsey Macpherson, serving as external examiner.
I am deeply proud of all my trainees and grateful for their creativity, and discoveries they have brought to the lab. More than ever, in these tough times, we need to recognize and appreciate the dedication of our trainees and the value of basic science to health and society.”
