Anu Agrawal: Advancing Global Cancer Care Through Collaboration and Innovation

Anu Agrawal, Pediatric Hematologist, Oncologist shared on LinkedIn:

“Life is defined by transitions and how we navigate them.  As an oncologist, I never imagined leaving clinical medicine, but that departure has allowed me so many new opportunities.

Due to personal reasons, our family transitioned to Barcelona in June, and unfortunately that means I am not able to continue in my role overseeing the global program at ACS.

Before I start to think about my next pivot, I wanted to thank the ACS and the global team for the opportunity, highlight the achievements we have made in the past two years, and reflect on where we as a global cancer care community need to go next.

The global team ‘punches above its weight’ as noted in our most recent impact report.

Some of the highlights since I began include:

1. Restructuring the global team to efficiently align and maximize our impact in an environment of lesser resources
2. Launching the Global Alliance for Cancer Patient Navigation which recently published a Call to Action in Cancer
3. Developing the Global Academy as a way to more efficiently connect organizations and deliver our practical and adaptable implementation tools globally
4. Reinvigorating and growing our collaborations—I want to recognize and thank so many of you who are now my friends and colleagues, tied to the great work of the ACS global team

Reflecting, I firmly believe that creating more efficient and interconnected networks to align work will be a key opportunity to leverage technology and create meaningful and sustained progress in an increasingly limited resource environment. I look forward to figuring out the next opportunity towards this end.”
