Aneira Young, Vice President of HOSA-Future Health Professionals, President of Future Business Leaders of America, Inc. (FBLA), shared on LinkedIn:
“Upon my acceptance into the MD Anderson ONCORE summer program, I had the honor of learning under several highly skilled doctors: Dr. Nazia Sadiq in hospital medicine, Dr. Yinghong (Mimi) Wang in Gastroenterology, and Dr. Andrew Shepard in Symptom research.
It has been a privilege to learn from such accomplished doctors and gain insight to the life-changing medicine around us.
During my time at MD Anderson, I performed laboratory and research activities that deepened my understanding of lab techniques, proper lab safety, and data analysis.
Although we did not interact directly with patients, I learned the importance of treating every patient with the utmost care, kindness, and urgency.
This experience has further guided my interest in the medical field, inspiring my desire to become an IMNP (Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner).
I would like to give recognition to the program director Ms. Lauren Sutton, MHA for her immense effort and dedication to the academic administration team at MD Anderson.
Additionally, I would like extend a special thank you to my grandmother, Clemmen May, who is apart of the IT department at MD Anderson.
Without her assistance, I wouldn’t have known about this incredible opportunity.
Thank you UT MD Anderson!”
