Andrew M. Evens: The Early-Stage Hodgkin International Prognostic Index Prediction Model

Andrew M. Evens, Deputy Director for Clinical Services at Rutgers Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Happy to discuss our pubication in the NEJM Group Evidence: the Early-Stage Hodgkin International Prognostic Index (aka the EHIPI) prediction model

  • Using Transparent Reporting of a Multivariable Prediction Model for Individual Prognosis or Diagnosis (TRIPOD) guidelines in a 3,000 early-stage HL development cohort from 4 seminal phase III clinical trials w/ validation from 2 external cohorts, totaling >2,300 pts from 5 global ‘real world’ HL registries. manuscript here
  • The 4 variables retained in the final E-HIPI model were: sex, CONTINUOUS values of maximum tumor diameter (MTD), and continuos values of hemoglobin and albumin.
  • Additionally, higher-risk E-HIPI scores were associated with worse outcomes in both the EORTC unfavorable and favorable subgroups. And when included altogether in 1 Cox model, the EHIPI was associated with PFS, whereas EORTC favorable/unfavorable status was not.
  • Finally, an interactive online tool for the E-HIPI that generates 2-year PFS in an individualized risk calculator, and also dynamic applications for risk comparison and risk stratification across user-defined cut-off points (SEE the 3 calculators HERE: https://lnkd.in/eyZmk7De).

We thank the entire Global HoLSITIC consortium members (Hodgkin Lymphoma International Study for Individual Care) for their incredible collaboration. The HoLISTIC datacommons now contains >30,000 individual cases; MUCH more work is ongoing and planned!”
