Andreas Charalambous, Chair of the Department of Nursing at Cyprus University of Technology and MASCC Executive Board Member, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today, we marked the official launch of the Lancet Commission on Lung Cancer, an international initiative that brings together leading experts from across disciplines and regions to address one of the most significant global health challenges.
The Commission aims to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment of lung cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care worldwide.
The launch comes at a pivotal moment, as a wide range of initiatives—spanning public health policy, health system reform, and clinically oriented innovations—are currently being developed, with many approaching implementation. These efforts have the potential to significantly reshape lung cancer outcomes globally.
Against this backdrop, the Commission will critically evaluate existing evidence, identify gaps and inequities in care, and integrate emerging initiatives into a coherent framework. Through rigorous analysis and global collaboration, the Commission seeks to inform policy, guide clinical practice, and ultimately contribute to improved outcomes for people affected by lung cancer worldwide. Together we will chart a path towards measurable, lasting change in lung cancer outcomes.”
