“Today marked an important moment for IE100, as colleagues gathered at University Hospital Heidelberg (UKHD) for the WP2 Interspecialty Cancer Training Programme Review Meeting.
As INTERACT-EUROPE 100 approaches its final phase, the meeting gave us an important opportunity to review the project’s implementation and performance – and to formulate recommendations for future European projects of a similar scale.
The figures demonstrate how far we have come:
- 805 certifications issued
- 812 participants started the programme
- 351 trainers started the programme
- A new pioneer cohort is now joining the journey
Beyond these numbers, today was a day of fruitful and honest discussion. It allowed us to reflect on what we have achieved together, to recognise the challenges we have overcome, and to appreciate the remarkable commitment of everyone involved.
Large European projects succeed through shared leadership. I would therefore like to recognise the two institutions co-leading this work with us:
- Turku University of Applied Sciences (Lead: Virpi Sulosaari)
- Pädagogische Hochschule Heidelberg (Lead: Marco Kalz)
as well as the coordinator European Cancer Organisation.
We can be proud of how far we have come – while remaining humble, continuing to learn, and ensuring that the lessons from INTERACT-EUROPE 100 benefit future interprofessional cancer education initiatives across Europe.
