Amy C. Moore, Director of Patient Engagement and Advocacy at Summit Therapeutics, Inc., shared a post on LinkedIn:
“When I was a little girl, my dad worked in this cotton mill in a small town in SC during the day before coming home and going out at night to finish drywall. He grew up poor and lost his dad, my grandfather, to colorectal cancer when my dad was only 14. He never had the opportunity to pursue an education beyond high school.
Yes, school was easier for me than many of my friends, but I never took anything for granted. My parents instilled in us the importance of hard work and treating others the way you wish to be treated.
I lost my dad in January 2025. Every day I try to live up to the example he set and honor him and the sacrifices he made to ensure my brother and I would have the opportunities he never had.”
