“There are moments when an organization’s mission is tested not by opportunity, but by uncertainty. This past year was one of those moments.
As researchers across the country faced funding cuts and an increasingly uncertain environment, the Cancer Research Institute (CRI) made a deliberate choice: keep science moving forward.
In FY2026, CRI committed $34.4 million in new funding across 93 awards, our largest grantmaking year ever. But the numbers only tell part of the story.
- We invested in scientists at pivotal moments in their careers.
- We supported bold ideas that may be difficult to fund elsewhere.
- We advanced clinical research, expanded our data programs, and continued building the infrastructure that will help researchers turn increasingly complex biology into better treatments for patients.
For more than 70 years, CRI has believed that progress happens when exceptional people are given the freedom and resources to pursue important questions. That belief matters even more when the path ahead is uncertain.
Our FY2026 Annual Report is a look at what that commitment made possible this year, and where we believe cancer immunotherapy can go next.
