“A INR 30-lakh CAR-T therapy entering a government health package is not merely a reimbursement decision.
It is a public health signal.
On 19 August 2026, the Government of Rajasthan formally brought CAR-T cell therapy under RGHS, covering up to 30 lakh for manufacturing, hospitalization and toxicity management.
- 26 lakh – CAR-T cell manufacturing
- 4 lakh – including supportive care and complication management.
For an eligible patient with relapsed/refractory malignancy, this distinction matters enormously.
It is a statement that advanced cellular therapy should not remain accessible only to those who can personally afford it.
ImmunoACT India’s First Global Humanized CAR-T NEXCAR19 demonstrated that CAR-T can be developed domestically.
The next challenge is access at scale.
Public financing + appropriate patient selection + accredited centres + safe leukapheresis + toxicity management can turn CAR-T from an exceptional intervention into a structured healthcare service.
Rajasthan has taken an important first step. Other states should study this model closely.
Innovation matters only when it reaches the patient.”
