This was not always considered an essential part of pediatric care.
As treatment has evolved, so too has our understanding of the emotional, psychological and social impact of the disease.
Today, addressing these aspects can help children cope with diagnosis and treatment, stay connected with school and friends, and help families navigate the challenges they face.
