“Returning from ASCO2026, my heart is full and my mind is buzzing with ideas on collaboration! Over the coming days, I plan to share insights from the AI in Oncology sessions and events I attended, highlighting how they connect with our newly launched Guide for Responsible AI in Oncology. I was nervous about officially debuting our non-profit organization AICANcer Patient Advocacy Group; it has been an “under the radar” project for two years, during which I researched every aspect of AI in oncology. However, the response was overwhelmingly amazing from both patient advocates, cancer organizations, companies and the oncology community!
Many of the AI in oncology panel discussions and meetings emphasized that the ecosystem currently lacks strong patient advocacy and AI-literacy education for patients. And of course I then couldn’t help but grab the mic during Q&A (because I’m not exactly the shy type;) to let everyone know about our mission and the work we’re doing, and to connect with us. The applauds that followed were not expected but oh so appreciated.
