Abhishek Shankar, Associate Professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Secretary General at the Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP), shared a post on LinkedIn:
”I am delighted to share about organising 1st Virtual Nursing Summit on Elimination of Cervical Cancer at AIIMS New Delhi.
I had the opportunity to conduct a panel discussion on Cervical Cancer Screening. The discussion focused on the critical role of screening in achieving the WHO 90-70-90 targets, with emphasis on:
- Expanding access to high-performance screening tests
- Strengthening nursing leadership in cervical cancer prevention and early detection
- Addressing barriers to screening uptake in low-resource settings
- Promoting equitable, community-based approaches to achieve cervical cancer elimination
Nurses remain at the forefront of awareness generation, screening, patient navigation, and follow-up care. Their leadership is indispensable in our collective efforts to ensure that no woman dies from a preventable disease.
My sincere thanks to all the distinguished panelists, participants, and College if Nursing for valuable insights and enthusiastic engagement.
Together, we can accelerate progress towards a cervical cancer-free future.”
