Harold Cottin: Quezon City Joins City Cancer Challenge Global Network

Harold Cottin, a prominent leader in global health and public affairs at City Cancer Challenge, shared a post on LinkedIn:

On World Cancer Day, I had the privilege of officially welcoming Quezon City, Philippines, into the City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) global network.

Quezon City joins a growing community of cities committed to strengthening equitable access to cancer care. This marks the start of a 5–10 year journey focused on IMPLEMENTATION, IMPACT, and SUSTAINABILITY, using the C/Can methodology to deliver locally owned solutions to cancer care gaps.

With strong leadership from the Mayor (Quezon City Government), the Department of Health (Philippines), and the Philippine Cancer Society—and a vibrant ecosystem of public, private, academic, and civil society partners—Quezon City has real potential to become a champion city for cancer care.

During my stay in the Philippines, I was energized by the conversations I had with many of these stakeholders, alongside my colleague Chika Kitajima. I’m deeply grateful for their time, openness, and the insights they shared on local context and priorities.

Welcome, Quezon City! Let’s take this journey together and build a city-led approach to cancer care that can inspire the Philippines—and beyond.”
