“We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the SUPPORTIVE CARE thematic group within the European reference initiatives for cancer screening, diagnosis and care, coordinated by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre and International Agency for Research on Cancer!
After extensive experience as former co-coordinator of ECICC (the colorectal cancer initiative) and collaborator on ECIBC (the breast cancer initiative), where I had the opportunity to contribute directly to the European standardization of quality in oncology, I have now been invited to co-lead the new ‘Supportive Care Group’ – the first transversal group dedicated to developing general oncological care requirements (survivorship, palliative care, nutrition, rehabilitation, psychological support, sexual health, social aspects and more) to be integrated across all six European cancer screening and care initiatives.
We start activities in November, aiming to create major impact for all European quality assurance schemes in oncology – for every patient and every specialty.
Institutions involved:
- European Commission, Joint Research Centre
- International Agency for Research on Cancer
- World Health Organization
- EU4Health Programme
and all experts from the 6 European cancer initiatives: colorectal, breast, lung, gastric, cervical, and prostate.
No matter the challenges, we remain committed to innovation and support for every cancer patient across Europe!
Details about all these European initiatives here.”
