“Platelets are amazing!
Lifespan: 7-10 days, Normal values: 150-450 (K/microliter), Stimulated by TPO 1/3 sequestered in spleen, Destroyed in spleen.
Receptors:
- GpIIbIIIa for fibrin
- GpIbVIx for vWF
Granules:
Alpha are fibrin, vWF, V, VIII, PDGF, HMWK
Dense are ATP, Ca, Serotonin.”
