Dana Rollison: Proud to share two of our recent publications in Cancer Medicine which examine health disparities in cancer care using real world data.
Quoting Dana Rollison, Chief Data Officer and Associate Center Director of Data Science at the Moffitt Cancer Center, on LinkedIn:
“Proud to share two of our recent publications in Cancer Medicine which examine health disparities in cancer care using real world data:
The first is an analysis of cancer registry data highlighting demographic differences in the timing of cancer care, having important implications for patient outcomes.
The second describes patterns in utilization of digital technologies by cancer patients and highlights disparities in the completeness of patient-reported clinical and sociodemographic information that can potentially impact quality of care and representativeness of conclusions drawn from downstream analyses and algorithms developed.
Both are important examples of the value of real world data and the care with which one needs to analyze such data to mitigate biases and identify opportunities for closing the gap in health disparities. Many thanks to the amazing multidisciplinary team of scientists who contributed to this important work!”
