Allison Rosen: I am proud to say I am still here
Allison Rosen, Director of Project ECHO at the American Cancer Society, recently shared on X:
“On June 7th, I heard the words no one ever wants to hear ‘You have cancer’. In that moment my life flashed before my eyes. I had no idea what life had in store for me. I am proud to say I am still here 12 years later and I celebrate this milestone every year.
My journey has not been easy, there have been tears, life-changing decisions, mental and physical health struggles, but there have also been milestones to celebrate. Like so many others I suffer daily with long-term side effects and will forever, but I will never let these stop me.
I am grateful I get to not only advocate in the colorectal cancer field and I get the honor of working every day for those who survived, those who are no longer with us, and those still going through cancer, in hopes that others will never have to hear the words that I did.
I am GRATEFUL to be alive and nothing will ever stop advocating for what I believe. Change can happen if you speak up and speak loud! ”
