“We are proud to announce the successful conclusion of the second General Assembly of the i4KIDS I i4KIDS-EUROPE project, hosted by Barcelona Children’s Hospital Sant Joan de Déu!
This collaborative event brought together consortium members and the Advisory Board to review the progress of the project and celebrate key milestones, including the launch of the ‘Status Report and Needs Analysis of Paediatric Innovation in Europe’. This comprehensive report identified five critical barriers to advancing paediatric innovation across Europe:
- Financial constraints
- Regulatory pathways
- Commercial and adoption
- Human capital and culture
- Infrastructure
To address these challenges, we’ve set up several dedicated working groups with key players from the paediatric ecosystem. Their role is to reflect on these barriers and, most importantly, to identify actionable solutions.
As we enter the final phase of the project, there are important milestones ahead:
The publication of a White Paper in September, which will provide strategic recommendations based on our findings to guide the future of innovation in paediatric healthcare.
The Paediatric Innovation Day 2024 in Riga, a unique European event focusing on innovation in fetal, child and maternal health.
Save the date: September, 27!
A hospital-based challenge programme for European paediatric start-ups to address unmet clinical needs identified within the ECHO – European Children’s Hospitals Organisation network.
Specific actions to increase our influence with key stakeholders, including government, industry, clinicians and academia, to accelerate paediatric innovation in Europe.”
