“Hot off the press
The most fun I’ve ever had writing a paper (and very possibly the most entertaining paper ever published in Bone Marrow Transplantation Journal).
A library of TikToks to engage diverse peoples to hematopoietic stem cell donation.
We report the development of nearly 600 donation-education TikToks, starring over 400 (!) performers from diverse racial/ethnic groups. We then classify a subset of these TikToks by performer connection to donation, performer ancestry, educational topic, and engagement strategy.
~33% of TikTok performers had a personal connection to donation including 8 donors, 48 patients, 68 family members & 7 physicians. Several TikToks featured recipients with their donors or multiple donors &/or recipients advocating for donation together.”
