Take a moment to highlight the challenges faced by the whole family when one child is diagnosed with cancer – Foundation S
Foundation S shared on LinkedIn:
“Today, as we celebrate International Day of Families, we take a moment to highlight the challenges faced by the whole family when one child is diagnosed with cancer. It is crucial to enhance care and reduce treatment abandonment in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Beyond medicine and science, Foundation S’s approach to beating childhood cancer, through its emblematic My Child Matters program, relies on a holistic view of the families’ situations when cancer strikes, especially in low income (and so far, low survival) areas.
In partnership with Childhood Cancer International, the ‘Home Away from Home’ initiative aims to provide a second home near essential health services for children and teenagers battling cancer. It’s about creating a sanctuary that meets the real needs of families dealing with the hardships of a severe illness.
On this International Day of Families, we want to give a special shoutout to the three organizations selected as part of this initiative, which are creating better care systems for children facing cancer and their families:
Bolivia, Fundación Nuestra Esperanza
Zambia, Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation
Malaysia, NCSM The National Cancer Society Malaysia
To learn more about those organizations.
Together, let’s create healthier futures for generations to come.”
