Erman Akkus: When to perform the next screening colonoscopy after the first one’s negative findings
Erman Akkus, Medical Oncology Fellow at Ankara University, shared a post on X:
“First screening colonoscopy, negative findings When to perform the next? 10 years or may the longer be possible?
- If no family history of CRC, could be extended to 15 years
- Extending from 10 to 15 years could miss the early detection of only 2 CRC cases and the prevention of 1 CRC-specific death per 1000 individuals
- But, potentially avoiding 1000 colonoscopies “
