SIOPE Condolence Statement : MEP Veroniqué Trillet-Lenoir
It is with great sadness that the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) learned of the passing of MEP Veroniqué Trillet-Lenoir.
As an oncologist and Member of the European Parliament she was a champion in the field of health policy, including paediatric oncology policy. Through her roles as Co-Chair of the MEP’s Against Cancer (MAC) Interest Group and Rapporteur of the Resolution from the European Parliament’s Special Committee on Beating Cancer (BECA), MEP Trillet-Lenoir spearheaded the fight against cancer in Europe.
She was a true friend of SIOPE and the paediatric oncology community. Her support for our cause was evident in her involvement in many of our events, including those marking Gold September. Through both hosting and speaking at many of our events, including our policy dialogue events with the MAC Interest Group, she contributed to growing the voice of the paediatric oncology community in European health policy. Her expertise, experience and continued support were vital in driving our messages forward and improving the lives of young cancer patients.
SIOPE would like to extend our sincere condolences to her loved ones, friends, and colleagues at this most difficult time. We will remember MEP Trillet-Lenoir with the greatest respect and never forget her commitment and passion to improve the health of European citizens. May she rest in peace.
