“It has been a priviledge and an honour to see this meteoric growth of my wonderful friend and academic teammate over the last few years – Shania Makker is a final year medical student at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, President of the undergraduate Oncology Society, a Cancer MsC Distinction from UCL Cancer Institute, >5 on the Pubmed and now bagging the “Best Poster Award” at the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology ELCC2024 in Prague.
She has redefined the realms of being an Early Career Cancer Researcher. I was fortunate to witness this first hand and be a part of her journey – sheer real hard work and talent combined never had a replacement!!”
Quoting Shania Makker’s post:
“I enjoyed attending my first international conference this week at the ESMO ELCC in Prague! It was an exciting experience listening to the cutting-edge research happening all over the world in the field of thoracic oncology.
Grateful to have had the privilege of presenting a poster on my MSc project work in Dr McGranahan’s lab at the UCL cancer institute and proud to have been awarded best poster. I am so grateful to have been able to undertake this project with my incredible supervisors and look forward to future research projects and attending more conferences!”
