Neil Ranasinghe: So proud to receive the Flames of Hope Honorary Fellowship from Cancer Research UK (CRUK)

“So proud to receive the Flames of Hope Honorary Fellowship from Cancer Research UK (CRUK) yesterday. First Flames of Hope award in 2012, and now this one yesterday. 18 years of volunteering alongside many amazing people and incredible CRUK staff (in particular Martin McGlown and Tom Bourton). I need to put this other certificate up.
Here are some of the things I have done over the years to help increase awareness of paediatric oncology, and support the work of CRUK: part of the original Grand Challenge committee, reviewed patient information pages on the CRUK website, publicity video with a doctor and Anne Ranasinghe (she/her), Anne in Stand Up 2 Cancer video, Campaigns ambassador, Children Young People (CYP) panel member, helped with CYP interviews, helped with Involvement interviews, advised CRUK HR on diversity, promoted Star Awards, helped at Star Awards parties (and ate too many cakes), asked celebs to attend Star Awards party, collected signatures for standard packaging, met my MP for standard packaging and other tobacco control legislation, Met David Cameron (PM) to promote CRUK activities, numerous meetings and workshops at CRUK, advised CRUK on working with volunteers, attended event at The Crick event to get more ambassadors, fund raiser – London Triathlon twice, ongoing work work with the Clinical Trials Unit, patient rep for the collaboration with the India government, spoke at various high impact events.”
