Manni Mohyuddin: Dr. Tefferi’s advice is so REFRESHING and AUTHENTIC

“Dr. Tefferi’s advice is so REFRESHING and AUTHENTIC
Some pearls:
- Seek joy within yourself and in the care you provide – not your peers.
- Heavy clinical work (not 0.1 OR 0.2. FTE) during first years after fellowship is how to become a good doctor.
- There are so many paths to success- it isn’t just being a trialist.
- As a trialist running pharma trials, you may have to sell some of your soul, as you pursue their agenda.
- Be patient with trainees who you mentor, show them how you write papers.
I loved how Dr. Tefferi spoke with gratitude about being a physician in the US. I feel the same way every day- we have it so good. I also loved how he doesn’t consult for pharma, and doesn’t support me-too trials. What an inspiration! Must-listen podcast, Blood Cancer Talks.
I heard this podcast while gardening on a fine spring day- and it was just such a perfect moment of zen and immense gratitude. I want to be like Dr. Tefferi when I grow up. Thank you again Raj Chakraborty, Eddie Cliff and Ashwin Kishtagari for your great podcast!”
