MENA NCCN 2022-2023 guidelines have been published and posted on the NCCN website and the MNGHA website – Kanan Alshammari
We are happy to announce that the MENA NCCN 2022-2023 guidelines have been published and posted on the NCCN website and the MNGHA website.
The Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNG-HA) led this collaboration with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) across the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region for more than 10 years, where oncology experts from the region gather and adapt NCCN guidelines making them suitable for the MENA region according to known demographic and metabolic characteristics in MENA patients.
This year, more than 60 oncology experts from more than 15 MENA countries gathered and chaired by myself as the director of the regional coordinating center of MENA NCCN at MNGHA, where we updated and adapted guidelines for 13 different disease sites including colon, breast, lung cancer and others.
NCCN guidelines have started in 1995 with the goal of producing treatment guidelines for different cancers based on the most recent science and evidence. This network started in USA and expanded until it is now considered the largest producer of the most widely used guidelines by cancer experts worldwide.
The regional coordinating center at MNGHA Riyadh aims to adapt and update these guidelines and ensure their appropriate usage within the MENA region, according to the latest evidence. Spreading knowledge and sharing experiences are also goals of this center.
We are happy and proud to be leading this high caliber collaboration that resulted in producing cancer therapy guidelines that are appropriate for our region. We aim to continue to collaborate and spread knowledge of this with the main goal of helping our patients.
