“Does primary tumor resection (PTR) prolong (OS) in inoperable synchronous metastatic CRC? SYNCHRONOUS and CCRe-IV trials Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Negative study
- Patients with tumor-related symptoms or diagnostic findings requiring primary surgery (eg, lower GI bleeding requiring transfusion, bowel obstruction, tumor perforation, or intractable pain) excluded.
- PTR vs no PTR, OS: 16.7 months (95% CI, 13.2 to 19.2) vs 18.6 months (16.2 to 22.3) (P = .191).
- Serious adverse events more common in No PTR (10.2% vs 18.0%; P = .027)”
