Nuh Rahbari: The SYNCHRONOUS and CCReIV trials on primary tumor resection in metastatic colon cancer
“After more than 10 years of work, I’m very happy to share the combined results of the SYNCHRONOUS and CCReIV trials on primary tumor resection in metastatic colon cancer published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology
- Largest dataset on this topic with 393 patients randomized in 100 sites
- Clear evidence that up-front resection of the primary does not prolong overall survival in treatment-naïve stage IV colorectal cancer patients not amenable for curative treatment
Many thanks to all patients, their families and caregivers, all investigators and their staff who participated in both trials, the staff at the Study Center of the DGCH, Bernat Miguel, project manager of the CCRe-IV study, and funding agencies DFG – German Research Foundation and Carlos III Health Institute. Without their outstanding contribution such a project would not have been possible!
Special thanks to the PIs Jürgen Weitz and Sebastiano Biondo for the great collaboration!
Many thanks to Florian Lordick, Axel Dignass, Manuel Feißt, Meinhard Kieser, University Hospital Ulm, Ulm University, University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, University Hospital Heidelberg (UKHD), Heidelberg University, National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg, / Dresden The University Hospital Mannheim, Bellvitge University Hospital, University of Barcelona, Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute – IDIBELL, University Hospital Leipzig, University Hospital Augsburg, and many more for the outstanding team effort!”
