Saro Armenian: City of Hope – A Place Where the Impossible Becomes Possible
Saro Armenian, Barron Hilton Chair and Professor of Pediatrics at City of Hope, shared City of Hope‘s post, adding:
“One of my favorite patients! The reality is that City of Hope is a place where the impossible becomes possible. Hilary’s remarkable journey is the secret sauce that makes this place so special.”
Quoting City of Hope‘s post:
“In 2014, Hilary was ready to start college when unexpected symptoms changed the course. After months of searching for answers through seven different doctors, she was finally diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and turned to City of Hope, where compassionate care would transform her life.
Her college dreams went on hold for five months of intensive treatments. She grappled with isolation and the relentless unknown. But under the care of Dr. Saro Armenian, the Barron Hilton Chair in Pediatrics, and her nurse, Georgie Roque, R.N., hope took root.
“Have you ever thought about nursing?” Georgie asked during treatment. Hilary couldn’t imagine it then, but Georgie’s support ignited something inside her
Today, a decade cancer-free, Hilary stands proudly as a registered nurse herself, paying forward the same kindness and strength she once received. She tells her patients, ‘I was in your position once, and now I’m here to be that inspiration of hope to never give up.’ ”
