Cancer Vaccines Bring Hope of a New Era in Cancer Prevention and Treatment – UICC
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Once considered a distant goal, cancer vaccines are now moving closer to becoming reality.
- LungVax – backed by Cancer Research UK (CRUK), a UICC member, and the CRIS Foundation – will begin trials in 2026, testing mRNA technology on 3,000 high-risk participants aged 55 – 74.
- Therapeutic vaccines for melanoma and HPV-related head and neck cancers are in advanced trials, with the potential to become NHS treatments in the UK within five years.
While challenges remain, from production costs and logistics, to long-term tracking of personalised approaches – these breakthroughs bring hope of a new era in cancer prevention and treatment.
