“Congratulations to Jun J. Yang, PhD, the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Postdoctoral Association Mentor of the Year Award winner. In a rich pool of nominees, Yang stood out among his peers for his work as a mentor, sponsor and coach, guiding early career scientists and researchers to paths of success.
“Without Dr. Yang’s mentorship at such an early stage of my scientific career, it’s possible that I would not even be pursuing a research career,” said Keito Hoshitsuki, PharmD, Postdoctoral Research Associate. “Dr. Yang is exemplary in his mentorship and sponsorship of his trainees.”Hoshitsuki is among 52 trainees who have worked under Yang’s tutelage and have praised a productive and scientifically exciting research environment that creates opportunities for achievement. Yang continues his mentorship even when the programs conclude. Yang shows a genuine interest in his trainees by keeping in contact with them throughout their careers. Even while on sabbatical, Yang remains a resource for postdocs to ensure that their progress continues.
