Significant Disparities in Cancer Care for Indigenous Peoples Around the World – UICC
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Significant disparities in cancer care exist for Indigenous Peoples around the world, requiring targeted and tailored outreach to overcome the myriad challenges to closing the equity gap.
UICC members are working towards closing the gap:
- Cancer Council Australia works to reduce the impact of cancer on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through a variety of initiatives, including its Reconciliation Action Plan, which focuses on engagement, partnership, and addressing health inequities.
- Cancer Society of New Zealand is committed to reducing the incidence and impact of cancer for all New Zealanders, and works on promoting equity for the indigenous people of New Zealand, Māori, in cancer care through a combination of equity goals.
- The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) is actively working towards reconciliation and improved cancer care for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people in Canada.”
