Mark Lawler: Cancer Is a No-Brainer – Isolationism in Health Research Is Brainless
Mark Lawler, Associate Director of Postgraduate Studies and Chair in Translational Cancer Genomics at Queen’s University Belfast, shared a post on X by Catharine Young, Senior Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, adding:
“Sad state of affairs when current admin thinks US can ‘go it alone’ in health research. Attracting the best minds globally to work with US scientists to address some of health’s greatest challenges, e.g.. Cancer is a no-brainer. Isolationism in health research… brainless.”
Quoting Catharine Young’s post:
“The Trump admin just blocked $15 billion in NIH funding. A footnote from the OMB Director bars NIH from awarding new/renewing grants for the rest of the fiscal year. The implications are beyond profound and will impact nearly every facet of the US biomedical research system.”
