“I’m pleased to share that in MAHAK, our initiative to improve childhood cancer care by empowering professionals through global partnerships and education is undergoing even under post-war challenges we’ve faced.
We wrapped up our 4-sessions training course titled ‘Introductory course to the POEM; Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean and member benefits’, designed to empower MAHAK healthcare professionals in the Middle East region with practical insights into POEM collaborative projects. Special thanks to our dedicated healthcare specialists and nursing team for their active participation throughout the course.
In this round, we investigated and analyzed how to contribute in line with POEM cooperative trials and establish common strategies of pediatric cancer in the region; the key topics covered were:
- POEM group goals: the importance of collaboration and networking in pediatric oncology, the structure of projects and networks, the role of specialists and institutions in this process
- POEM projects and treatment protocols: common treatment standards, introduction of the retinoblastoma protocol, and challenges and solutions for treating rare pediatric cancers.
- Networking, training and participation: the importance of training in developing protocols, how experts and institutions collaborate through POEM networks, supporting innovative research
- Communications, updates and future horizons: review of current projects and research, impact of collaborative networks on treatment standards and policies, development opportunities and future projects.”
