Sachin Jain: Stay True to Yourself
Sachin Jain, President and CEO of SCAN Group and Health Plan, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Many people give up a part of themselves in order to fit in.
It happens in small and big ways.
Sometimes it’s driven by a pragmatic reality.
Other times it’s driven by ambition.
We convince ourselves in the moment that we aren’t losing anything.
That we are just doing what’s necessary to survive or get ahead.
And, then, after years of making these barely perceptible compromises, we become barely recognizable to our old selves.
We have compromised our core.
Our integrity.
We may like ourselves less or even have a small degree of self-loathing.
We live in polarized times where the pressure to become someone that we are not and the pressure to say out loud things we don’t believe is strong.
Resist.
A small word of encouragement: stay true to yourself.
We don’t lose ourselves all in one day all at once
It’s in the small, almost imperceptible choices we make when we go against our inner voice that we eventually quiet it…forever.”
