Alique Topalian Highlights Rebranding of National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship to Cancer Nation
Alique Topalian, Research Scientist of Survivorship and Supportive Services at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Have you heard the news?
At CPAT2025 the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship announced it is now Cancer Nation ! Attending CPAT in 2022 change my life. It was my first step in to advocacy- I fell in love and have jumped in head first! I’ve met so many incredible advocates and friends who inspire me, encourage me, and support me. We truly are a family.
I am so thankful for everyone I have met through cancer nation. Excited for this next chapter for an amazing organization.
For 40 years NCCS has been the leading voice for quality cancer care. In 1986, ‘cancer survivorship’ was a radical concept. Survivors were often treated as afterthoughts, if they were acknowledged at all. Right now, there are more than 18 million people living with, through and beyond cancer.
Our size now makes us too powerful for any of our health care needs to remain unmet. So NCCS is evolving its identity to put survivors front and center, strengthening our collective voice to demand better care.
We are healthy. We are sick. We are strong. We are suffering. We are in every town. In every family. In every heart. And we are here to be heard. We are the 18 million Americans living with, through and beyond cancer. And we demand the right to thrive.”
