Daniel’s Journey from Cancer Survivor to Engineering Student – World Child Cancer
World Child Cancer shared a post on LinkedIn:
“When Daniel was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at just eight years old, his life changed dramatically. He missed years of schooling due to long hospital stays and remained at the same level of education while his peers moved on.
Returning to education wasn’t easy. But today, Daniel is a first-year Electrical Engineering student at Accra Technical University, thanks to the Courageous Futures Scholarship, developed in collaboration with Amgen (Sean Lybrand, Philip Anderson) and The Carlyle Group
The scholarship provided more than tuition. It covered accommodation, a laptop, and a stipend, giving Daniel the stability he needed to focus on his future.
“I feel relieved and free from the mental burden of thinking about my fees and other bills. My educational journey has become so easy for me now.”
Daniel dreams of becoming a skilled engineer, and perhaps a music artiste, too. His story shows the long-term impact of investing in survivors, not just during treatment but well beyond it.
Learn more about Daniel and other survivors in our latest blog.”
